ReFashioned

In two fascinating courses, "Experimental Fashion" and "Making Fashion," I delved into the captivating world of the fashion industry and its multifaceted components. These classes offered me a hands-on opportunity to take a design from idea to completion. What made these courses truly remarkable was their focus on eliminating clothing waste and promoting sustainability by repurposing existing garments and fabrics.

Each ensemble presented its own unique challenge, requiring us to go through every step of the fashion industry process. We started by defining a specific season and target customer. From there, we embarked on the thrilling journey of creating mood boards and generating 15-20 initial sketches. As the creative process evolved, we refined our ideas into detailed renderings using programs like Illustrator, Procreate, and Photoshop and ultimately constructed 1-3 pieces for each collection. The culmination of our hard work came when our creations graced the runway at the prestigious Illinois Art+Design Fashion show.

These courses provided an invaluable platform to foster creativity while instilling a deep appreciation for sustainable practices in the fashion world. It was truly an unforgettable experience to witness our designs come to life on the runway, representing the journey through the fashion industry.
